pdx_01 was composed and produced by NomIg. (Ed Jordan and Stephanie MacKay). It is an example of their compositional technique, where the audio and the video are treated as one synchronous set. We feel that this technique is integral to the development of audiovisual art as a medium. It is important to recognize that audiovisual art is not just an extension of experimental film or of the music video, but is a medium in itself. It is a place where compositional techniques envelop all aspects of the work as opposed to segregating them to their respective corners. These techniques can be seen as the audio and video ebb and flow in a choreographed dance at times their dance is synchronized and at other times their movements differ, while always acting as a compliment to each other.
