Summertime by Santiago Echeverry
Summertime (1996) is related to Echeverry’s ongoing project Cabaret in which he links the plot of the original play (with its portrayal of a cosmopolitan Berlin that coexisted with the Nazi horror) to every day life in war-stricken Columbia. This is piece is a gay / porno fantasy in the middle of the worst winter.One of the first digital videos created to be seen in a computer screen in NYC. The artist sings Gershwin’s Summertime with a little twist in the middle. This piece is a pioneer in Digital Video Art, showcased in the Mix Film Festival and the Gay Lesbian Film Festival of NY of 1996, amongst other shows in the world.
