Melinda Morey

Melinda Morey's videos, installations, paintings, drawings and prints have recently been included in: Modern Means, Mori Museum, Tokyo, Japan (2004), Push Play at Mercer Union/Image Festival, Toronto, Canada (2003), Surf Culture at The Contemporary Museum in Honolulu (2003), and Lobby Projections at the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Morey?s work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and The Contemporary Museum, Hawaii. Melinda studied painting and illustration at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA (1984-1986), holds a bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, in Fine Arts from the University of Arizona (1998) and an MFA in Fine Arts from Rutgers University (2002). Morey is also an accomplished waterwoman. Her relationship with the ocean influences her current work, as it has shaped her fundamental perceptions. Born in Torrance, CA, Morey was raised on Kauai, Hawaii. She currently splits time between New York and Kauai.
